Swan Tryst

Leda and the Swan by Rapiti Giovanni Artwork

A fairy bird glides on water

From here she seems so relaxed

Wherever, needing not shelter

Such adoring grace, never lax

Her beauty’s essence is timeless

Resplendent, illuminating, pulsing

Enthralled, her motions ceaseless

Spellbound, rapt, mesmerising

Wish as you may, she passes by

Reach as you may, she’s elusive

Forbidden, don’t ask why

Woeful, but you ought, believe

Day’s a year, year’s a millennium

Envisioning, rife contemplation

Passion’s fires in pandemonium

In agony, yet too in exhilaration

I yearn to ride amid her feathers

Glide along to the water’s edge

Each moment blissfully together

Never asunder, we shall pledge
